Updated Old-Growth Reserve Mapping Proposal
As noted in the Final EIS—on page 2-14 and in the descriptions of Alternatives 1, 2, 3, and 6—an interagency process of refining the
boundaries of old-growth reserves (OGR) was completed in 2007. Alternatives 1, 2, 3, and 6 in the Draft
EIS incorporated some of the initial boundary refinements and these alternatives incorporated the final proposed changes in the Final EIS.
The Record of Decision adopted the final proposed changes.
The refinement process included the development of an interagency biologically preferred alternative
for each small OGR. This proposal was reviewed and refined by ranger district staff and the Forest
Supervisor, and an updated proposal for small OGRs was developed. This updated proposal, which was subsequently slightly refined, is shown along with the interagency
proposal and the Alternative 6 OGRs, as well as the generalized Alternative 6 land use designations (LUDs) in the maps linked below (Note: all non-development
LUDs are shown in one color and the development LUDs are shown in white). This is a different set of maps than were originally posted here because as of April 11, 2007 they
include the interagency proposal.
