Forest Plan Adjustment > Work Items > Invasive Species Emphasis

Invasive Species Emphasis

Non-native species, particularly invasive ones, are a growing national concern. However, the 1997 Forest Plan did not specifically address “invasive species.” Even though the term “invasive species” was not used, it was clear that the intent of the 1997 Forest Plan was to manage for native and desired non-native species. The 2008 amended Plan was updated to specifically address invasive species in all appropriate places, including a new section on Invasive Species forest-wide standards and guidelines in Chapter 4.

Work Product(s): The product for this work item was appropriate edits to the 1997 Forest Plan to give greater emphasis to control and management of invasive species.
